I have a Franklin rocker recliner that goes back too far when I sit in the upright position. Is there a way to get rid of the recliner portion and convert it to just a recliner so it won't go back so far?

I was thinking of removing the springs on the base frame and replacing them with a piece of metal on each side to keep the frame from moving up and down. Any ideas on if this would work or is there another method I am missing?
