I have a fairly severe water leak in my 1996 Renault Megane 1.6e coupe - resulting in an inch or so of standing water in the floor of the car. Car has been parked outside, so am fairly certain the water has come from the car being rained on.

Was led to believe that there are typical places that tend to be the source of such leaks by model - looking for advice if anyone has experienced this before?

If you have a sunroof, that will almost certainly be the source. I had a serious leak with a Megane 1.4 (R), when the drain pipes from the sunroof surround became blocked with road dirt at their exit. This may help.
