My unarmed alarm system is omitting the start of the intruder alarm noise for about 3 second duration at random intervals and it is driving me nuts. Is there a quick fix or will I have to dig deep and pay for a engineer to come out.

P.S. I am a female so it may be something really simple.

New battery time.
If you are confident enough, isolate the mains to the panel and remove the cover, the outside will probably sound, ignore it. Get all the battery details, 2.8AH or 7AH ect and then relid and turn the mains on and then enter your code.
Order battery and then do the same as above but this time replace the battery.
Now the tricky bit, the panel may default to original settings,you should be lucky if it was set up as normal. Only the code will change. 1234 IIRC or 5678.
