how do I use my dryer on my washing machine ?

Hotpoint 6Kg Washer Dryer WD440. How do I use the dryer on my washing machine ever time I go to use the dryer the comes on then with in a minute the light keeps flashing and nothing happen can some one please help me

turn the dry dial round
(it is measured in mins) the dry light will flash to indicate whether the dry can be enabled if it doesn't flash it means that the dry cannot be enabled if it does flash it means the dry can be enabled.

I am looking for resolution to same problem without incurring repair fees. I did not use the dryer until out of guarantee; have never used the drier successfully
