05 Gilera Dna wont start?

i was riding my DNA (2005 new shape) when it cut out on me. i was then unable to restart it. the noise it made when i tried to restart it was horrendous, it was a whirling noise with various clanking. when i press the electric start button i just get a clicking in the rear hub. also, the kick start will not move, i have tried to start it but it will not physically move. i was told that a flat battery may be to blame but i charged the battery to no avail. the bike is virtually new still, i have done 370 miles and just the other day put the correct oil in it. i am quite upset because this was a new bike and was told that i would have no problems with it. any help would be much appreciated. many thanks bill

the problem you have is very likeley to be the end of the variator come undone ,there is a nut on the end off the crankshaft that holds it on and they often fall off.take the cover off the left hand side of the engine and the problem will become apparent.there is no oil in there so dont worry do not remove the kickstart lever from the shaft its bolted to ok.
