as with any handbrake adjustment you need to let off all cable adjustment,adjust shoes up in rear drums by levering shoes apart gradually,keep trying drum on and make sure they're not binding,then adjust cable. dont know what type of ford you have escort/capri/sierra as i remember all had laser models!
