Good advise from E Mano

We would prefer you shut the system down first Paul, then there's no need to remove the rkp fuse,

as alarm has said mate, mains power off and disconnect the backup battery inside the control panel,my mention of the fuse to Alarm was mearly a query has to how that particular(yours) behaved on removal of the F4 fuse.

This was not an instruction directed for you,

Make a note of the wiring colours/connectors at the rkp before you remove any wires, simple swap, all the terminals are marked for you.

Thanks e manno and alarm, will take fuse out for rkp and see where we go from there.

cheers

Defo the safest option alarm,

Seen some stupid improvisations which the average have a go DIY'er has at the time thought sensible,

nails, screws and foil in fuse holders that sort of thing, all because they haven't fully powered down first,so yes matey fully downpowering is wise.

Prefer to see a DIYer do it all dead.
We do it "Live" but we know what we are doing and carry spares in case we muff it up :D

Oops just remembered F4 fuse is the 12v supply for the rkp on them,

Better of going with Alarm's advice and shut the system down:)

Ok he would still get tamper alarm but he won't annoy his neighbours.....and he should be able to renew his rkp,pop the fuse back in, lid back on,restore mains power then reset. Just a thought :)

Alarm would he still get outside bells if he isolated mains power, left the battery connected and popped out the F2 fuse on them?,

Save him getting ladders out,

Sorry but I can't remember if the accenta will or won't.

Cheers matey:)

Yes, Power down completely. The external sounders should ring. Let them run or get a ladder out.
Remember there is mains present and ladders should be used as instructed, safely.
