I take it this is a 2.4 which has a very long belt with numerous pulleys,it would be in your interest to source another engine for a look at the belt route and draw a plan,the auto adjuster is just under your p.a.s. pump and I think the earlier engines were a 3/8" square drive to let the adjustment off
