what's wrong with my 205 cj?

My 205 has a brand new battery, if i go shopping in it stopping at starting, it has nothing on the key all the ignition lights are are but it is absolutely dead.
If we put a booster charger on the battery it starts (this is not always convenient) what could it be?

cdc is correct but check your EARTH lead and connection in particular as well
