Replacing ABS sensor ring on Citroen Dispatch?

The toothed sensor ring on my Dispatch is broken. I have a replacement. Has anyone out there replaced one of these? if so what do you need to remove to get access and what is the process of fitting the ring? I have made a start and have disconnected the steering tie rod, removed the caliper, undone the upper two bolts holding the hub carrier to the Mc Pherson strut, undone the nut on the crossbolt for the lower kingpin ball joint all in preparation in preparation for removing the hub and then the hub carrier. One potential stopper is the ABS sensor in the hub carrier. I've got the allen bolt out but the sensor just doesn't want to move. How to get it out? How'm I doing so far?

CDC'c answer is of course the correct and proper method but there is another which will allow you to replace your old ring.
Bend the old ring apart and slide the rubber boot back along the drive shaft if possible.open the old ring up enough to get it off the drive shaft, clean it up as mentioned above.
Put the boot back temporarily and clean the ring seating with first a strip of rag moistened with de-greaser (not too much don't want it getting into the bearings) then with a bit of emery. Next put a ring of Tiger seal around it put the ring back on and tighten a large jubilee clip around it. In the morning it will be absolutely solid. Did mine 3 years ago and it's still working. Best thing is you don't need to remove anything but the wheel and if you break your ring you can put it back in separate pieces and it still works!

Just typed a response to this but it seems to have got lost. I finished the job. Thanks to whoever posted the reply. In the event I did the job without reference to this site (Forgot where it was!) Anyway, I found the sensor disconnect plug. getting the hub nut undone could have been a bit of a struggle, but I bought a 36mm socket (needs to be thin walled) and I bolted a heavy piece of steel strip to the hub using one of the wheel bolts I let this fall to the ground and then if you get it the right way round it picks up ion the centre of the hub and locks the hub in place. Then I put a long (4ft) piece of tube on the socket wrench and - hey presto - off she comes. I would recommend clamping a piece of thin rope or stout cord to the halfshaft with a jubilee clip and then tieing that to the chassis member inboard. This prevents the shaft pulling out of the gearbox when you take the hub off. (I didn't do this and ended up with the shaft coming out and oil all over the place) I cleaned up the seating of the sensor ring with a sanding drum in a dremel mini drill - did a great job. The rust was very thick. To get it all together again afterwards you must have a spring compressor for the Mc pherson strut. I can't see any other way of getting the lower ball joint back into it's hole. Good luck and thanks again

you are doing good, keep it up,I have done these on a peugeot before and think it is a common problem,I think not so long ago you had to buy a complete driveshaft but do see rings for sale now.You may find if you have the bolts for the macpherson strut out, track rod end off and the driveshaft nut off the whole hub may pull out far enough to release the cv joint from the hub assy gaining access to the ring,if not you may have to trace the abs loom back to where there is a connector, look behind the inner mudshield or the inner wings,I would give the c.v joint a clean up with some emery tape and apply some lubricant to ease the ring on and give it some gentle taps with a brass or copper drift to ease it into position, good luck
