my tumble dryer short circuits the downstairs sockets?

my hotpoint aquarius tcm570 condenser dryer has been fine until this morning. put it on a cool setting and switched it on and it cut out after couple of seconds and knocked out all my downstairs sockets. checked filters, checked the plug in another socket, checked the hose at the back that takes the water to the container...cant see anything wrong....tries it again and it did same thingany ideas?

check the float at the back of the dryer,its the grey they bottom right when u look at it from the rear,its a very bad design ,and a common fault on hotpoints,float sticks to bottom of chamber allowing water build up in heater matrix,the commer shaped unit left hand side of the dryer looking at it from the rear ,turn all power off before working on the machine,
