bit fell out of oven?

A big metal bit fell out of the back of my top oven, it came from over where the oven burner is. What is this and what name for the spare part. Is the grill/oven safe without it?

its a back plate or element cover its held in place by three or four screws,just put it back in place ,turn power off before fitting it back on
