Have an advent 7035 laptop and the other day it kept turning itself off and then got the black screen so chose to do last start up that worked but when it went to load it just switched off. So decided to reformat the hard drive but when it gets about half way through that it switches off so havent been able to do that. Have dismantled it and cleaned any dust out of the fans, have also tried a different hard drive in the laptop and the same thing happens it loads up but then switches off. Am at a loss at what else to try any help please???

I've had the same problem recently and i noticed that my laptop was getting very hot. It just kept switching itself off and I really had no idea why. I spoke to a man in an internet cafe and he suggested a laptop cooling pad which I bought and hey ho, no more problems. It has 3 small fans in it and I paid 29.99 for it. I leave my laptop on all day and it no longer gets hot and more importantly never switches itself off. Worth a try I guess. Hope you solve the problem.

try booting the laptop with the mains power supply adapter, and remove the battery.
