Fisher and Paykel Excellence 7.5kg washing machine GW712?

My machine stops in the spin cycle. Sometimes in the last rinse. I have to reprogram it to the rinse to continue the wash. It will usually stop again on the spin. I might have to do this 4 to 5 times. It will stop and sometimes will beep continuously. When the spin cycle does finish, the clothes are still quite wet. Sometimes the clothes are left with bubbles all over them. Often some clothes are more dirty like they have been dropped in dirt. So basically 1 load is taking me a few hours to complete with not great results in the end. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I will call out a service person. Thankyou very much for your time and professional opinion.

Nobody asked if you knew why it stopped I just wanted to know exactly what was happening at the time. I am not there to see for myself so you have to be the eyes and ears to report exactly what is happening. No point just saying all the water didn't drain. From your last description it sounds like either a faulty drain pump which may be over heating or a fault on the control board which is turning off the power to the pump then switching it back on. You really need to call out a service person who can test those parts and advise which one is faulty.

Ok. If I knew why it stopped I wouldn't really need ur help. When the water stopped draining, there was no noise but power remained on. Just the last light was lit. After a few minutes it continued to drain. Fast flow again and then let out most of the water. Then stopped again. No noise again.

Gosh this is taking forever. Try to give more details if you can. Like why did all the water not drain out? Did the flow of water stop and the pump was still running or did the pump stop mid cycle or did the power go off and all the lights go dead?

Lincoln Appliance NZ, December 2012
It was fast but not all water was drained.

Forget the spinning for the moment. Error code is drain problem so deal with that first. Machine will not spin until bowl has emptied so we need to get it to drain fast. Do like I asked before. Make sure there is some water in bowl then advance to final spin and press start. Can you hear the drain pump running. a humming sound or no sounds at all? If pump is running how much water is coming out of the drain hose in to the sink? Is it fast, slow or non at all?

Lincoln Appliance NZ, December 2012
Just watched it spin then stop to drain more water. The spin seems strong so am starting to think that the drain is blocked.

I just did another load. It stopped again with the 3 lights on and the beeping. I tried to put it straight to spin , although there is still plenty of water in there ( maybe drain blockage) and when it does get to the spin it tries to spin (sounds like it revving up) then abrubtly stops. It tries a few times , same outcome then stops trying. Also when rinse was on I listened and heard what sounded like the spin was trying to take over bug couldn't. To me the sound reminded me of a car engine trying to kick over but just can't. I hope this completely unprofessional description helps.

Ok Amanda thanks for coming back with that info. The 3 lights on when it was beeping are error code 37 which is saying it is taking too long to drain. Usually caused by a blockage in the drain pump but can be caused by a faulty pump. Start by putting the cycle on final spin and press start. If drain pump sounds like it is running but no water comes out of the drain hose in to sink then you have a blockage. If you can hear a faint humming sound down low at the front of cabinet then the pump is trying to go but something in the pump is holding it back (hairclip, toothpick, etc) If no sound at all then pump is probably faulty. Try it and tell me which is happening and I will tell you how to deal with it.

I got it restarted and now lights 3,6 &8 are on and it's continuously beeping.

Amanda, December 2012
I just finished a load and the last 3 lights are left on with no beeping. Sometimes it's different though. I tried to turn off and back on but still nothing.

Amanda, December 2012
When it stops does it beep and show an error code? Look at the 8 lights along the top row. Count from left to right and note the number of the lights that are on and which are off. Post the result back here. Without the error code it is impossible to help without seeing what is going wrong.
