how can i replace my rear wiper arm on peugeot 206?

i am replacing the rear wiper arm on my peogeot 206, (03 plate). the new arm looks to be too thick at the nut. there is a metal flange around the hole. do i need to take this out?

There is a metal collit (Spacer) that goes between the wiper arm hole and the spindle (shaft) from the motor if your old one is still on the shaft and the new arm also has the spacer in. You need to remove the one off the shaft a small hacksaw will do this easiest
