Hotpoint top loader WLW leaking from drawer?

WLW 3300BBLAD . There is an open ended plastic drawer into which the incoming water flows thru a small nozzle. At the other end of the drawer is a much larger outlet to which is attached a hose which leads to the drum. This drawer is completely open on the input end and it appears that the water is not leaving the drawer to the machine fast enough, and is overflowing. Only happens when machine is taking on water. I have previously cleaned out the larger hose, did find some gunk in it, and that seemed to solve the problem, but only for a while. Wondering if there is something made that would allow me to eliminate the drawer. It is of no value that I can see, other than perhaps mixing cold and hot water together prior to entry.
