how can i fix brake lights?

my citreon saxo has water leaking from the bonnet through to the drivers footwell now my brake lights are not working.the brake light switch is wet.has water gotten into brake switch above brake pedal?how do i check and can i fix it?

there are usually drain holes at the engine bulkhead which sometimes get blocked,check those out
