Remove trays, liners etc to improve access.
Pour a little olive oil onto a thin strip of cloth and wrap it around the gap between the glass cover and the lamp housing. Leave it to soak through to the threads for a couple of hours. (Alternatively, use a pastry brush to apply olive oil directly to the threads.)
The glass cover unscrews anti-clockwise - imagine looking up at it with your head in the oven!! - but glass threads tend to bind, and need lots of force.
After a small rotation the cover will seem to reach a stop - apply firm and increasing pressure and the cover will eventually and suddenly come free.
The lamp is a small edison screw 40 watt 300 degrees C bulb - from Maplin for about £2.99
After cleaning the cover, put a little olive oil on the threads.
Good luck
