How can i fix my 2001 ford transit van?

My van wasnt entering gear i took to a mechanic who told me that the bolt is snipped .I've been looking for the part but the part supplier are asking me to buy a new gearbox which is about 400quid but dont have that kind of money for such van.what do i do?

you will have to describe your fault more clearly,what bolt is `snipped` and what do you mean by snipped.Is it the pinch bolt on the gear linkage which is sheared?Is the selector shaft which goes down from the top of the g/box housing moving ok?There is a needle roller bearing just under the oil seal on that shaft which seizes,liberal oiling and some release agent are usually ok to get it freed off and keep lubricating through the year.
