my unrealiable Peugeot v-clic is driving me crazy?

I own an 08 v-clic that's a pain to start. Fitted a new spark plug and it started lovely from the electric start.... for a week. Then it would take a few goes of the button and a bit of throttle to get it running. Within 2 months it would only start from the kick start (unless the engine was warm) started first time off kick start. A week later I needed to kick the hell out of it for it to start. Changed the plug but within a month i was back to kick starting the thing. Any idea why my ped is killing spark plugs so quickly?? My very non-mechanically minded hubby is getting fed up of taking the ped apart to fit new plugs and my poor foot is fed up of kicking starting it

additional info: had a new throttle cable, starter motor, plug cap and gel battery fitted under a year ago. Also the bike makes a horrible noise when you press the electric start button (grinding and clicking) has done since i bought it.

tune up? ignition is preset hence cdi , so unless you have a snapped woodruff key on the crank there aint anything wrong with the timing, if their was the exhaust would be glowing, due to spark advance or retard, and seen as their is no mention of the engine being to pieces, then their would be no reason to believe the timing had not been set at the camshaft correctly, bob might wanna rethink his advice, this is a compression fault

Timing is out. Pistons build up pressure and load up with fuel which won't ignite, then the starter cannot handle it. The plugs burn up when timing is wrong because it is running hot after is does start. get a tune up!

trust me love, get the valve clearances done, they are 0.05 inlet and exhaust cold, then get a compression test done using the electric start, it will pay dividends, i am sick of fixing these things crap engines
