Car service?

What is your opinion on dealer servicing your vehicle?
It costs lots and most people I talk to advise using your own mechanic and the warranty isn't worth squat anyway.

I was on about this to a garage owner not so long ago who does our MOT`s and these were some of the things he said, some servicing intervals are 20k miles now and the first service is usually an oil and filter change,no wheels removed if not needed which means wheels can go years without removal meaning if you had a puncture on the motorway the chances are that you couldn`t remove wheels because they are seized solid to hubs, the bulk of the main dealers time was removing engine covers for access and this was his experience with main dealers, personally I wouldn`t want my motor going 20k for a service and would at least half that and do more than any main dealer would do.I would rather over service than leave it for longer intervals and I think in the long run will save money.
