boiler ok but it makes a nasty clicking sound when we
turn it off also when we turn down heating can you advise please

you control your heating by mean of clock fitted on boiler what it say all day timed or off you can timed by pushing pin out or in ,first set clock local time,as regard noise when on off you can spray special spray call silicon you can buy from electric repair shop
