2002 golf TDI Auto Box Fault?

My golf has a auto/tiptronic gearbox,recently it has started not change down from top gear properly when accelerating the revs go up and eventually it engages a lower gear.if i accelerate more gentally its ok,it only does it between 5th and 4th gear the lower gears are ok
