Boiler is potterton profile 50e. Recently switched on for winter?

Hot water and heating not available at the same time . Is this normal? I thought they were both ok a few months ago but cannot be sure. Any pointers appreciated Thanks

I think Andrew may be misleading you a bit.
It sounds like his Worcester is a combi boiler but a Potterton Profile cirtainly isn't.
If your heating comes on only with the hot water then this may just be the way your heating was installed. If your not getting any heating but your boiler is heating your hot water then you may have a fault with your 3way Valve in the airing cupboard or you may just have a stuck or brocken pump.
Hope this helps

don't know too much but fixed my own worcester over the years. look at the water diverter valve under the sytem expansion tank which contains water, normally a red tank. the dicerter valve has a lever on it which moves when you switch on the heating or hot water. both will work at the same time but hot water is diverted to your tap and so from the heating circuit so essentially if you keep water tap open your heating will go cold. replacing diverter valve wasnt so bad. try this. bets thing is to phone a few engineers up and pretend you dont know anything about it and use their brains to diagnose your problem then do it yourself.
