there is light on one side of my steam iron but it is not getting hot. also, there is some water leakage. I have already tried descaling.

For several years now and for safety reasons they make irons to be non-repairable - to reach the inner workings you need to destroy the iron.

Your iron will have a defective element more than likely - throw it away and get a new one - do not spend too much because you will not be able to repair that when it goes wrong either.

There are dozens of them on Amazon - all sorts of prices. £13 upwards... (post free)
