how do i reset a alarm after a power failure?

Alarm control panel will not respond to the code typed in therefore i cannot reset the alarm. The strobe outside is continually flashing and although the lights on the panel are lit and the keys do sound i cannot get any response.Veritas security model alarm installed 1997,sensor activated.

Mine did the same and i sorted it thus....
I opened the main panel and pulled out the main fuse on the plastic tab. Then disconnected the red (+pos) battery terminal. Give it a few minutes then reconnect the battery. The alarm starts to beep, so quickly put the fuse back in....the alarm beeps some more. Then quickly put the cover back on carefully so that the anti-tamper spring lines up. Dont worry about putting the screws back in yet, the cover should stay in place whilst you run to the control panel and punch in your 4 digit unique code and hit reset. All sorted.

This will only deal with the problem short term or untill the next power failure. Sounds as if the battery has had it. Visit alarmhelp.net and there is a section about changing the battery.
