graphite has not same conductifity 0f silver paste you get in kit and as you said,its expensive kit

Rub the tip of a soft pencil over the contact face of the #1 key. Works great on remote controls.

If you can't Change your user code because of the # key then what make/model is it because an upgrade may be necessary if it's obsolete.

In most circumstances though the keypad may be repairable with the use of a kit purchased from the net.
