i have drained my central heating system and switched it off at the boiler, i have left the boiler on thinking i could still get hot tap water, however the boiler doesnt light up when i put the tap on but the pump/fan runs, im assuming/hoping its because there is no system pressure ...any help would be appreciated

The boiler needs to be filled with water to aroung 1 bar depending on how big your system is. It is possible to isolate the flow and return cocks and have the boiler just work on hot water, the problem is filling the boiler with the cocks isolated. it is not recommended though.
