NEFF U1442 double oven. Was cleaning oven and whilst trying to remove glass bulb cover, the bottom half of it sheared off and came away in my hand. Yes I know it serves me right for cleaning the oven...but how do I remove the other half which is the screw fitting. Have tried plyers but the glass is fragile and I only ended up breaking a piece off.

I had trouble removing the glass cover - it would turn about one sixteenth of a turn and no more.

To get it off I got a cotton bud and soaked the end in 3-in-1 lubricating oil, then rubbed the end of the cotton bud around where the metal collar of the glass cover meets the roof of the oven (i.e. where it's stuck). I did this with both ends of the cotton bud in order to get a decent amount of oil on the surface.

Then a few forceful twists to and fro and I was able to free the bulb cover from the holder without shattering it.

There is no health and safety safe method anyone can advise to remove broken glass, best to replace complete light fitting, comes with new glass. If you attempt anything wear safety goggles. I have had this before and tried to tap the glass around to unscrew wiyh a screwdriver but you always get chips of glass flying off now I replace complete light fitting every time Cheers
