Dyson DC39 120V plugged into 240V help?

Please can someone help me?

I purchased a Dyson Animal Vacuum DC39 from overseas not realising it was 120V. Using an adapter plug, I plugged it into a 240V and it made a small noise and failed.

I would be so grateful for any suggestions to fix it, please?

It will have destroyed the motor.

Quick searching suggests that the motor is not available as a spare part.
