veritas?

When I turn my fluorescent cellar light on the alarm buzzes it must be an old Veritas R8 because the big box has a red light on, as i have seen on the internet its a green light now a days, anyway Battery was replaced 2 years ago, When it does go off though I get tamper indicating sometimes it does it without the light being turned on

Iain, is the battery that you fitted 2 years ago a Yuasa by any chance?

There was a faulty batch floating around. The number stamped on the top of the battery began with " 09 ", if it's one of those, that could be your problem.

Just a thought,

Can't seem to find that setting either acorn,

Not on either of my red&gold IBT's but I have old bang olufsen crt telly that's 50 htz :D

Me replaced the black stripe tube and fixed the convergence board some twenty years ago now.comes with motorised stand, dogs bollocks in them days and what a picture.

Proper set :)

Ok Clueless, I have an ACT! Gold-Plus beside me now.
Please tell me where to find this 50hz adjustment, other than in your mind that is.

You can't because there is not one.

As I said previously, "Clueless by name, Clueless with knowledge that's Clueless."

I know what you are thinking here,"can't be the battery it's only two years old" :)

Wrong!, the location of the panel and the environment temperature plays a key factor in battery life.

We have several systems that need the battery changing annually, not only because of it's location but as a precautionary measure.

Listen to the lads they know what they are talking about.

Clueless.. why mention the mains frequency? And why would an old veritas that's been in situ for donkeys years suddenly change from 50 to 60 htz?.

Makes no sense ????????.

Are you one of them techy guys in an office who folk speak to when there's a fault/issue cos I dont think you are engineer?

e manno, March 2013
Well I think I'm just going to power it down its been alright for the last 16 years or so but I've not got the money to be getting a new one installed so thanks anyway

Clueless by name, Clueless with knowledge that's Clueless.

Just take the advise from gts, he only gets it wrong every now and again. (Joke)

Change the battery.

By the way the ACT! tester is about £180

acorn, March 2013
you wont have an ACT tester mate, just replace the battery, forget the 50 hertz rubbish ,the ACT unit is a tool we use to put a dummy load on the battery,it tests the temp and ampage, voltage of the battery, its expensive so most of joe public would never buy it just us pro,s

gts, March 2013
Pro's cost money, What is the main problem people are having at the moment?, Money, Is there no other solution

Iain, March 2013
ACT the battery and check it's set up for 50 hz then meter the the system with your MM (resistances),suspect tamper?.

What more can one say apart from get a pro in ?
