Has anyone experienced their shower door shattering?

I have a Quadrant shower enclosure which was fitted 6 months ago. In the early hours of the morning one of the shower doors exploded whilst I was sleeping. The manufacturing company is insisting I have struck the door with something for that to happen. I was in bed at the time and there is nothing surrounding the shower unit to do this. I have had an independent shower fitter out to assess this but he cannot find a reason why this would happen.
Has anyone else had this happen to them and what were the cause?

only a guess following net searches.
Minor damage during installation such as nicked or chipped edges which later develop into larger breaks
Binding of the glass in the frame causing stresses to develop as the glass expands and contracts due to thermal changes

Internal defects within the glass such as nickel sulfide inclusion. Its said the most common reason for these intrusions is when stainless-steel machinery is used in the manufacturing of the glass.

If you can contact the shower manufacturer ask who supplies the glazing for the enclosure explaning what's happened they may be interested and even offer to send a new door.
