My hoover wont suck?

My Russell Hobbs vacum, power cyclonic, 2000 watt is not picking up, we have checked the hose and filters which are empy.

The red light is coming on

if red light is on you have a blockage do as pecavvi says,

mm, April 2013
Run the machine with the hose off and cover the inlet hole with your hand. You should be able to feel the suction and hear the pitch of the motor sound increase as it runs faster off-load.

This will tell you if the "problem" is inside the machine or outside in the hose section.

Then connect the hose with the cleaning head removed and cover up the end of the hose. The force of the suction should be similar to what you first felt.

Check the hose and its connections for holes where air might be entering and messing things up.

Good luck...
