Tunstall 2500 ?

Hello all, hope some kind soul can help?

I have major problem with it before and following a battery replacement, here goes,

The system is only running on battery due to no mains power here and protects 38 individual storage containers with pirs. All was going good until it came up with fault associated with a battery fault.

New 7 AH battery now fitted correctly but it's dead, it does nothing and the fuse is ok too?,

can you help with any ideas please?.

nope me old son, they had the ts 300,the ts 360 and the ts 2500 out in 1989, we used a few of the smaller units but the liquide display was a pain i think it was thev ts 200 we used,it had a bit of a slow response time to unset i seem to remember, but,i may be wrong,

gts, what's a Tunstall 2500? Do I know it by another name?

no need to tell us how old it is mate,we all know :-) noah had it in his ark !!!!!!!! no speacial tools required the engineering book will tell you how

Thanks lads I have bought a better battery, the chap at the trade counter recommended the NP17 which I have now charged straight from it's box and fitted.

It was mentioned that a kickstart was needed, can I do this myself and would it involve engineers equipment which I do not have?.

I failed to mention that the alarm was installed many years ago although the pirs have all been upgraded recently and so i'am thinking that has put extra strain on the battery. Also we know the engineers access code.

Thankyou.

You fit low Ah battery on golf trolley then it dies well before the 18th hole,

You fit low 7Ah battery to that system and it dies within several hours,

Going on your description Bill you need it to last 12 hrs so you need a bigger battery, 17Ah should do,

Hope you understand that?,bigger is better under these circumstances,

Also there is no calculation known to man when translated suggests a 7Ah battery will run that system of yours for twelve hours

am with alarm guy and e manno, kick start required, also bigger battery whhen mains fails your alarm system will drain that battery quicker than my my drains her bottle of wine,!!!!!!! :_)

Ok lads the battery has been on my golf trolley charger since yesterday and now indicates a full charge,I took it of the charger late last night and tested it again this morning with the charger which indicated a full charge,so i'am assuming it's holding it's charge.

Connected the battery to the alarm early this morning and nothing it's still will not power back up,

Iam at a loss lads,

Getting an engineer out up here would be a cost i'am trying to avoid at the moment, times are hard. Can any of you lads assist me with getting the blooming thing up and running again?.

Your help is much appreciated so far.

bill clegg, April 2013
Agreed it needs a kickstart.
Same as the 900s.
This new batt, you KNOW it is good.
How did you test it?

IIRC the menvier panels that I worked on had a whopping 17Ah battery or 2x7Ah's fitted,

also when mains and battery were lost or following a battery replacement then they had to be rebooted by jumpering the pcb.

It's been a while since I've touched one now so can't remember for sure....maybe the engineers on this site ( all very good ) can offer better help.

Good luck :)

We have generator that runs on site throughout the day then lighting and security runs on emergency battery power that's been fully charged.

I know it's not the new battery because it's had 12 hours charging throughout the day and the alarm does not want to power back up.

Have you lads any idea why ?

Thanks all.

bill clegg, March 2013
This is good.
Even assuming a loading for the PIRs and the panel the battery would last 5 to 6 hours tops.
So do you change one every 5 hours?

Alarm, March 2013
Well I thought I'd heard it all on here of late,

But this one really takes the biscuit :(

How do you charge this 7Ah battery which is the wrong rating for that panel/your system anyway?,

Please tell us more i'am intrigued.

e manno, March 2013
.... also, ideally a 7Ah battery 'should' be charged for 24hrs before use. Using from new and needed to operate your 'system' is asking too much.

acorn, March 2013
I'm a bit lost for words here, I hope you are not saying that 1x7Ah battery is running the 2500 panel & 38xPiRs.

Could you give a little more information please.

Just carry on here.
