corsa D oil filter housing?

I have been having trouble removing the oil filter housing. The nut on top is getting rounded off and the socket is slipping so I am unable to replace the filter. Is there another way around or am I pretty much knackered?

If the head of the filter housing is rounding off use a single hex socket and try just trying to tighten it slightly before you undo it. This helps to brake the grip of the seal to enable easier opening. The replace the top of the filter housing.

you could try an oil filter strap round the body of the filter,once off,renew.
