mark 4 golf back passenger dorr wont unlock via central locking or manually via latch or door handle - whats wrong and how can i fix it

Sounds as if the lock is kaput and you'll need a new one. They usually play up a bit first before they stop working completely and that is the time to replace the lock. Now you'll need to cut through the door card to get at it and you'll need to buy a door card too.
