i cant get first gear and have to take off in2nd gear theres no crunching noise or that it just cannot select 1 st gear and im afraid it will eventually burn out the cluch anyone got any remarks or knows what is causing it to do this thanks kenny.

Is there lots of play on the gear stick ?

If you lift the gear stick gater cover and move the stick from side to side does it move a long way in the socket ?

There is a part on Ebay you can buy to repair this socket;

I ended up £170 down as I needed the car asap for work but if you have time to wait for delivery and an afternoon to fit then the feedback suggests these are great and work !

thanks for your answer it wont go into 1st gear when engine is off either so i guess it will be the linkgage/selectors

if it goes into gear with the engine off then you have clutch clearance problems,if not you may have a worn gear linkage/selectors in g/box
