Veritas 8 alarm problem?

Our alarm system has recently started making an intermittent beep from the small internal sound box in the kitchen.
I have changed the battery in the main box but this has made no difference. The beeps are about every 55/60 seconds and really starting to get on our nerves!
The red light on the main box is on and constant, the only other light is the green unset light on the keypad which again is constant.
Please can anyone suggest what we can try next?

I've been in security for many years now gts and I'm totally eulogised with you and the rest of the guys efforts on this site.

From an engineers point of view I praise you all highly and you guys have also taught me a thing or two since I've been on here, especially with the newer scanny panels such as the ion's and thank gts for that :)

All you guys know your stuff and are all a pleasure to have a chat with even though acorn is a bit of a grump "joke".

Me respect you all :) :) :) :),that's three smiley faces for good honest men that have contributed so much to this site and never been given the credit they deserve by Joe public on here.

Wouldn't it be nice if all the Q's on here were as polite and as grateful as Higgs.

Ps i had to say it.

pps me shut up now :)

e manno giving the credit that these good guys deserve!!!., April 2013

Hi again,
You guys are great! Many thanks.
Can't believe how daft I feel!
Found my mums old carbon monoxide sensor in kitchen cupboard.
It's in the bin!
No noise. Thanks agin for your help.
Saved us a wasted call out charge from the Alarm Co.

Higgs, April 2013
have you a carbon monoxide sensor in house ?it can bleep when the battery is done too

gts, April 2013
Internal no it's 16 Ohm speaker connected by two cores wiring to LS terminals on panels pcb,

Outside sounder yes it's highly likely there's a SAB in there.

is yours the old R8 panel with onboard keypad, and is the panel also bleeping or is it only coming from the extension speaker and did you test the sounder and strobe?.

Have you done any DIY that may of disturbed the wiring to the extension speaker or any that has upset the outside sounder's wiring?.

Test the outside sounder and strobe either by the method in the manual or create a full alarm condition and get back to us.

e manno, April 2013
Hi, thanks.
I have walk tested the system and no probs, also sets ok on full or part.
Def not smoke alarm that's upstairs!
Is there a battery of any type in the internal or external sound box that old cause it?

Higgs, April 2013
Have you tested it to see if it all functioning correctly?,

Never had a veritas that bleeps in the way you describe, are you sure it's not a smoke detector located nearby that emitting this tone?.
