hi, during the wash cycle the machine will fill and empty on its own and then the hot and cold lights will flash until I press the play/pause button to continue. Then it does the same during the rinse cycle. My clothes are not being washed as the soapy water keeps draining mid cycle.

sounds as though it is syphoning, raise up the end of the waste hose, better still look at the manual where it refers to installation
