noisy kenwood A901 needing attention?

Although old it has not been used recently - it has just been switched on and a rumberling noice is comming from the motor - my guess is a bearing on the motor needs replacing - as an engineer I am willing to 'have a go' but before I try, two questions - Is there any easy way to get at the motor? - where would I get a replacement bearing if that is the problem? - or should I just buy another one on ebay or retail shop

The motor of the A901 comes out though the bottom of the unit.

Turn the unit upside down, and unscrew the little cover where the flex enters, and take the flex out of the conector block and unscrew that.

Then undo the two screws holding the tilt-slider, the thing that holds it in the up/down possition.
- This will allow you to take the black motor cover off.

To the remove the motor you have to take the top off the tilting part.
- There are two small screws eather side of the beater output, followed by the three around the bleader output.

Then removing this exposes the gearbox, belt, and three screws holding the motor inplace. It will then drop out of the bottom. (literalty if you done hold it when yoo undo the last screw!).

If you google "kenwood a901 spares" there are loads of places that do spares for just about everything. I've just redone the brushes in ours tonight.

However, its is possable thats theres actually nothing wrong with it. I obviously havnt heard it run. But the older 901's do sound a bit rough at anything other than flatout due to there speed control unit, which is a simple hit-and-miss governor type.
