how can i take my rowenta dx1700 iron apart so that i can change the cord?

I have taken the two screws off the back plate and the two screws on the bottom but still i can,t take the base off to get at the cord.

Give up and get a new iron - they do not make them to be repairable these days - they don't want people messing around and electrocuting themselves and then all the legal business that follow. It's been decades since I managed to put a new cord on an iron.
