i have a vitesse evolution running machine with error code 1 showing on dis?

hi my vitesse running machine has developed a fault and show E1 on the display it works ok up to 4km and the incline is fine just cant go past 4km or it beeps with the E1 code and stops?? any ideas what is wrong please help!
