Hoover Vision HD 1200 AA, fills for 5 seconds then stops?

Our Hoover Vision HD 1200 AA starts to fill then stops after 5 seconds - a click can be heard coming from the cylindrical switch in the back top left corner of the machine - any suugestions please?
