Had the same problem and was real drunk getting ready to get more drunk making pina coladas after all the whiskey for a change. Put everything together in the picture and nothing. God stepped in and made me mess with the blender until I passed out. About a year later, I got it out and tried again. I was dead set on fixing it so I took the motor apart and put it back together messing with the switch over and over again with no luck. I was just about ready to throw it in the trash when I noticed a springy thingy on the cover guard. There is a protruding plastic spline on the pitcher that must line up with a slot on the power head and it pushes a plastic piece in the springy thingy forward in order to engage the power head. Its a safety thing so you can not engage the power head unless it is seated on the picture. No where in the instructions does it tell you this and it is very easy to misalign. It will not work unless the power head and that protrusion on the picture line up. Works great now. God saved my life for some reason and I figured the blender out. ENJOY !!!!
