Leyland daf 45/150 handbrake not releasing after driving?

Any ideas please? After driving along the motorway for an hour I came off and had to stop at traffic lights, put handbrake on and when I released it to drive off the brakes were stuck on. Air tanks were reading 9 on both as they usually are. This has happened a couple of times on and off and the only pay I can release them is to pump the foot brake until air tanks are empty then rev engine to build them back up. It's then ok. Passes mot fine.

have you noticed if the air pressure drops when it happens ??as that will bring the handbrake on..or is the air pressure slow to build when it happens

Yes it's pre LF, R reg. it's annoying as its happened before just before mot then been ok and passed mot with no problems. It doesn't always do it but now I get very wary about using the handbrake when stationary in case It gets stuck again.

A Leyland Daf 45 /150 will probably be handbrake cables ,poor brake adjustment on the drums or failing handbrake cylinder ..if it is a LF then non of that applies ,but going on what you put im working on it's pre LF
