How do I replace the belt on my Hotpoint VTD20 tumble dryer?

How do I replace the belt on my Hotpoint VTD20 tumble dryer?
I have a replacement belt which is so tight on the drum it will not stretch onto the drive shaft although it is the same size as the old belt!

bit late for you, but someone else might appreciate the amswer, belts are supposed to be very tight, professionals use a special to9ol to put them on the drum, however i used brute force on myt hotpoint vdt00, it took some effort.

If you take out 2 of the screws that hold the drum on & slacken the third one, rotate the drum to allow a bit more movement. Then stretch the belt over the drive shaft. You'll need a bit of muscle power though. I've just done mine, but 2 wires have come off the timer (programmer). You couldn't
have a look on the back of yours & let me know which colour wires go on which terminals.Cheers colincheetham@ukonline.co.uk
