Recommend running the engine for 5 minutes before draining the old oil.

remember to lower the car onto level ground before putting new oil in and checking the level

Hi Spencer,

Firstly, nip to Halfords and buy an oil filter remover tool/strap, you may not need it this time, but very handy always to have one. You'll come across a seized one sometime!

Halfords shopping list includes: Jack, Set of Axle Stands/Ramps, Latex Gloves, New copper washer for sump bung, (ask @ the parts desk in Halfords, they should be able to give you the right one.) Oil Filter, Engine Oil.

Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.

On a level surface jack up the front of the car, place an axle stand on either side. (Or use ramps, whichever you have to hand)

Get a big container, old washing up bowls are perfect or a 5 litre (open top) container should do it.

Put on protective latex gloves, oil and skin don't mix!

Remove the sump bung.

Drain the engine of old oil.

Refit the sump bung, replace the copper washer first though.

Locate & remove the old oil filter. (It's an anti-clockwise motion to unscrew. This is where it's sometime handy to have the filter remover to hand!)

Remove the new filter from it's box.

Now, using NEW engine oil dip your index finger into the bottle, lightly oil the rubber top of the oil filter to create a seal when fitted.

Fit the new filter. (Hand tight, don't use the removal tool for tightening up!)

Add clean oil to the engine, always minimal to start, check dipstick for level and add more as required (Half way between the MIN & MAX marks. Never overfill the engine with oil, if this happens drain the engine of the excess oil before starting the engine.

Once the level is correct refit the oil filler cap on top of the engine, run the engine for a couple of minutes just so the filter has a chance to fill up.

Switch of engine and re-check the engine oil level using the dipstick, top up the engine oil to the correct level.

All done!

Hope this helps.
