July 2009. still a problem and the solution still works. Multiple windows meant constant freezes. As it says-
View> toolbars> then 86 windows live toolbar.
Interesting still no fix by Microsoft.

I also got here through Google after suffering for weeks with slow computer and annoying screen freezes. Turning off Window Live Toolbar seems to have worked: I went to "View..Toolbars" and switched it off. Thanks to this site for telling me what and how

So glad this thread is here and like most others I got here courtesy of Google. Turning off the Windows Live Tool bar in IE7 fixed it immediately. Search_Glow problem appeared rather suddenly had no clue as to where it came from.

Worked for me. Just turn off Windows Live ToolBar in IE7 >View>Toolbars & hey presto...normallity returns.
Thanks.
No thanks to Microsoft...

I turned off the toolbar as mentioned and it works. Also, I noticed that it only froze up if you open multiple tabs -- my "home page" is several regularly visited sites. If I have a single window open and try to click on the "new tab" it was also freezing up.

I too have Googled my way here - can confirm it works.
Thanks Guys

The only reason I use Windows Live Tool bar is that the AutoFOorm feature can hold more than ONE credit card info. Google refuses to add more than ONE credit card storage capability in thier toolbar. Does nayone have a solution to store more than one Credit Card with Google and Firefox?

Hmmm, interesting:
1) Google also brought me here
2) The solution of Collosus as corrected by Suresh still works
3) More than a year later and M$ still hasn't fixed the problem

Interesting response Mark. Google led me here!

"I have had IE7 constantly freeze because of Search_Glow.

If you go into IE7 > Tools > Toolbars, and turn off Windows
Live Toolbar, you can work away merrily in IE7.

Collosus
May 2007"

Slight error there, the menu in IE7 is IE7>View>Toolbars

I have had IE7 constantly freeze because of Search_Glow.

If you go into IE7 > Tools > Toolbars, and turn off Windows Live Toolbar, you can work away merrily in IE7.

Collosus, May 2007
Search_Glow is part of the UI (user interface) for the Windows Live Toolbar. IF you have the Windows Live Toolbar installed in your Internet Explorer 7 or 8, you will have a Search_Glow java function.

As is the usual case, Microsoft fails to address this issue that is causing many IE browsers to freeze or crash. Just one of many unaddressed issues by the world leading team of incompetence.
