Remote Key Pad (RKP) disabled after Tamper reset (Accenta G3)?

Hi,

I removed the cover from my RKP having mistakenly thought it was making a beeping noise (don't ask please....).

The problem is now that the RKPs are both disabled, although there is definitely power going to them. I can use the alarm from the main panel without a problem, but if anyone can assist with advising how to "enable" the RKPs it would be greatly appreciated.

e manno,we try give advice and what do we get?dont think its that, why do we bother mate ?

But check the fuses when you are in there as gts has said, and also the rkp cover is fitted correctly or it will tamper and lock out again.

Remember mains off before you open the panel.

E manno,

Many thanks. I'll give that a go.

Ok this was a convo between gts and I,not directed at you as such.

You created a tamper but the system won't reset or see the keypads due to a duff control panel battery, most likely.

Try powering down.

Mains first then disconnect battery, let it ring!.

Connect battery back up, then close the lid and switch mains power back on.If keypads don't come back then fit new battery.

Clearly I don't know better, hence the polite request for assistance. You know the saying, if you have nothing useful to say, say nothing....

If anyone else has any information that would assist I would e grateful.

Mark H, August 2013
oh well you know better mate ,i bow out now ,leave it to guys who know better ,like you

Yes it was the smoke alarm. In my defence it was 3am!! Ok, no defence I know....

I don't think it's to do with the cover being on properly since I only took the cover from one RKP and now both are disabled.

Power definitely still going to the one the cover was removed from since I took the cover off again and the alarm activated despite their being no visual signs of power to the RKP.

Any help would be appreciated.

can I say e manno, its funny how the users are better equipped than us to say if its the alarm that's buggered,i have been on same line as you ,panel bleeps every 30 secs,we both know the prob ,but the users think we try con them ,my staff inform anyone of our customers who calls us about this 30 bleep to check their smokies or cd detectors ,idiots abide mate would rather lose them than tie up my staff time with idiots

Ah but the G3's can emit a single service beep if the service timer has been programmed, engineering programming, flag B.

Take gts's advice because he's correct in thinking the beeping was from a smoke/cmox detector with a low battery located nearby :),

I had a call years ago from a customer who still demanded an engineers visit even after I told him the beeping wasn't from the system, and was more likely to be a low battery in a smoke or cmox detector.

"Nope it's from my alarm,so send engineer" so we did, turned out it was a c moxl detector under an untidy pile of mags/old newspapers
near the fireplace :D.

He cancelled his service contract calling us rip off merchants when he was given the bill which I stressed over the phone he'd have to pay if engineer found no faults with his system.

So if an exp engineer says "it's a smoke or c-mox detector",then it usually is .

we know what it was beep beep! :-) so know you replaced the battery in the smoke detector ! check you have fitted the cover back on properly and no fuse is blown ,have you keyed in your pin and pressed reset !
