how do i get into my dryer to see why its making a loud noise?

I have a Hoover TV630 reverse action tumble dryer which is making the most awful metal scraping sound, but only when its going in one direction, the other way it sounds fine. I have taken the top off but can't see past the drum to check if somethings stuck in it. Am I right in assuming that it will eventually wear down ? Can you suggest how I get into the bottom of it. Thanks

i had the same problem but with the hoover apollo supreme, it was the fan blades near the air intake that is causing my grief.

The blades sort of creep nearer and nearer to the casing causing the loud metal screeching noise as the blades hit. I took a hammer to it and pushed the blades further back on it's axle. Stopped the noise completely.

They don't really secure it properly, it just a silly wire spring clasp that holds the fan blades onto the axle of the motor. piff!
